About Us
The Kakowan Community Facility is located at the entrance to the James Drysdale Reserve and is a space for not-for-profit groups and associations and community groups within the area / district managed by the Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club.
Kakowan is Aboriginal for laughing Kookaburra – a place of much chatter and talk. We couldn’t think of a more appropriate name for this amazing facility.
Aim
This brand new facility provides a community space where multiple community activities can be enjoyed within a parkland setting of the James Drysdale Reserve. The facility is easily accessible and provides ample parking.

Who Is Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club (GVK)?
Our members are volunteers and part of community life. The Club serves in the Pine Rivers district of Moreton Bay Regional Council and the Keperra and Ferny Grove districts of the Brisbane City Council. You might hear the word “serve” many times when referring to Lions but in basic terms we are not for profit, providing either funds, (through fund raising) or assistance for those in need within our community.
GVK is one of many Lions Clubs who are located in cities and regional areas. Golden Valley Keperra Lions Club is now located at the Kakowan Community Facility. Clubs are easily identified by their distinctive Logo, the trademark of our International Association, and the ‘We Serve’, motto. Lions Australia is part of an international association filled with people who are joined by the common desire to make their communities better, by using their creativity, enthusiasm and energy.
The members of our club enjoy a rewarding mix of social and project activities depending on their capabilities and interests. Membership is open to all people, both young and not so young. You can volunteer to be of service to your community, via the many opportunities in Lions through:
